Ford Focus
« on: 01 December 2003, 15:07 »
I'm no Jeremy Clarkson but I just got my courtesy car while mine is being repaired after a rear end shunt. They've given me a Ford Focus for a week.

First impressions? Nice ride and everything is new but it feels..I dunno? On the cheap? Tacky? Plastic? Fragile? My dear old VW Golf (bless her) feels like a solid peice of craftmanship. I think Nirvana when driving the Golf, whereas I think Steps when I drive the Focus. No what I mean? A short shelf life and a sell by date? No substance and all show. If it was an excellent car I would definitely say so but sorry I'm not that impressed with it? But thats my opinion and you are welcome to disagree!!

Looking forward to getting my Golf back on the road.

I know you lot dont really care but the Focus seat belts aren't long enough for baby seats either. You cannot put a newborn carseat in a focus. Not that I would want too LMAO.  ;D  ;D

I have to say, when I finally grow up enough and I end up having kids, there's no way I'll put them in a Focus - You'd never stop them crying!!!!

I had one as a courtesy car also, and as well as it handled, I couldn't live with the interior. It is not only disguisting to look at, but it is horrible to the touch as well.

Ford have tried at copying vw's interiors (Mun-dane-o is blatant attenpt at a Passat) but you only have to touch a switch to know that they can't do it.

I test drove a 1.8 Zetec Focus b4 I got my GTI and I must say... its handling is space age compared to the Golf. The Golf is like a caveman pushing a boulder and the Focus is like a scalextric (dunno how to spell it)

And then u have the ST170 and RS Focus's .. which are like... VWAPP...

Focus RS = Sexy, Fast, Fun, Cool.

...Sorry but I think I'd have an RS over a R32...better handling... better ride. R32 has no 1st gear LOL... ive tried... its crap.
