mk1 rear axle

wondered if anyone could help i recently hit a kerb with mk1 and bent the rear axle i have since been offered a rear axle with a disc conversion apart from the obvious need for calipers would i need anything else or is it a straight forward swap also what calipers would be the best choice hope someone can help cheers neil

Are you sure its so whole subframe you need :undecided:
Would have thought that any damage would be to the stub axle which is bolted onto the rear subframe. Fairly cheap to replace..........like for like.

They are not subframes thay are axles. The stubs are very hard. Certainly I have slid a Mk1 and bent a back axle before. It was obvious looking at the fillet between the beam and trailing arm that there was a kink there. If like mine, your stub axle is Ok, you could swap your drum set up over to your replacement axle if you wanted to

You would need scirocco 16v handbrake cables, and early MK2 rear calipers.  Possibly later ones would fit but I'm unsure if the handbrake cable would reach...
