No point in starting a new thread, when this is pretty much related...

I ended up taking out my radiator in the long running saga of decontaminating my coolant system. Now it is all clean inside, and I reinstalled it, the entire radiator gets hot now, I let the oil temp on the MFA get to 90oC but the fan doesnt kick in  I have bridged the connector to see if the fan works still and it does. What sort of temperature is it meant to get to before the fan kicks in?
Also, if i have to get a new thermostat for the radiator, or a new radiator where is the best place?

Just as good if not better than GSF, shame they don't have as many parts in stock!

Well, got up to 3/4 water temp, and kapow! the fan kicked into life!!

although, i think i may have found out why i keep losing a bit of water, there is a screw where the hose back to the expansion tank should be...so it looks like a new radiator for me anyways...

so you dont have the small hose at all?  Interesting!  If so you might want to consider fitting a MK3 2e flange at the front of the block, there is a connection here for the header tank hose.  You also have to swap the 2e waterpump/oil cooler hoses on as well, but prob all cheaper than a new radiator!

The small hose at the top of the header tank is there, it just looks like someones put a plug or bung into the end of it, when I looked at it before i just thought 'whats the point in that hose', now I know...

Also has clips for the sparky wires.  Tidys the engine bay up nicely :)
