Standard unleaded or 97 high octane?
« on: 11 April 2006, 15:27 »
Hi all - what do you all use re fuel? - and if I use high octane which takes more care of my engine with better performance, is there anything you have to alter on the engine or is it a case of fill up and that's it?

just fill it up.. the knock sensor takes care of the rest..

i used to run on optimax.. but after the last big price hike i've not stepped back up from normal fuel..
Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

Anyway, I think the 8v motor is so much old technology it would run on a coal and wood mix (only in the correct quantities mind!)

16v doesn't have a knock sensor does it Overseer?  I use 95 RON as that's what mine was set up to use, if filled with ultimate or optimax it starts to pink so depends on how the car was set up last.

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08

is that good for your car? - can't imagine tesco high octane is? - it's like drinking a fine burgundy or a can or special brew - the special brew will get you lagging quicker, but what on earth will it do to your insides over time??!
