headrest? Oh those things practical cars have, I made the mistake of getting fixed back bucket seats and 3 point harnesses. Great for racing, Crap for going to the shops...
I might take the old dash out of the doner car, drill and bolt in a mounting bracket and try and put a camera in. Failing that im just gonna get sombody with a really good camera phone to sit shotgun and video it.
The Brake situation:
basically this project has run very far over budget, and i dont earn all that much so my plans to buy new brakes had to be put on hold. As it happens the disks are jammed onto the hubs which are also scezed so theres no way of taking them appart. Instead the hubs from the doner car have been swapped over, Unfortunatly this means i dont have EBC pads and Drilled / vented front disks anymore, I do however have brand new Standard brakes on teh car that i can run into the ground until next month. So thats solved the brake problem. Apparently my brake fluid was a thick black goop when they replaced it....My fault for not keeping up in Servicing the car properly. So im going to make sure i stay on top of services from now onwards.
Im picking the car up tonight. Once ive got it back im bringing it home, Replacing the front grill and removing all 4 wheels so i can give them a good clean for the show, On friday ive got to have my stuff packed and the car ready to leave for Hitchen at 6pm. We are meeting at the bodyshop that works closly with our car club, There we will pick up the rest of the convoy and the trucks (they have car transporters for the show cars etc) we will then start the two hour drive there (which is gonna be interesting as half the cars push over 400-600BHP)
Once we are there we have to sleep in the cars friday night and be up at 6am. All the cars have to be on the show stands by 8.30AM! I have to be at race control by 9.30AM! for a half hour briefing, In the mean time ill have sombody checking over the car. Then ive got 10 minites to warm my self up and the car. Then im on the track at 10.10 for 20minites.
Ive got detailed trackmaps and detailes on how to take each corner. Theres on called Coppice which is scaring me a little, Its a uphill straight leading into a tight corner. The corner sits under the summit of hte hill, So you cant see it...until its too late, If you havnt started braking before you can see the bend chances are your going off teh track
