mk3 gti 8v loads of problems

hi every 1 another newbee

got a m reg 2l 8v gti 2 weeks ago but few probs   as listed

1.first of all what is the redline on 8v  mine redlines at 5000 rpm(but when moving if i turn the ignition of and bk on it goes all the way to 7 k??

2.the revs at idle are very unstable???


3.the car has cut out  twice (both times when u put your foot on the throttle its like the ecu is cutting the spark but still adding the fuel, reason i think this is because when i try to start the car again it WONT , so then i pull the fuse for the fuel pump few turns and it will fire.

so i have changed the plugs (but they are black every time u take them out=overfulling?)

rotor arm +cap

looking at doing coil next but need some advice please

Hi and welcome...

All the questions you have have been answered quite recently - check out the search feature... 

You never know, timing the engine up might just sort the lumpy idle and the limiter too...

do you know what settings to use on the crank pull and  cam pully

only had the car about fully 3 weeks  so will get manual for it but would be greatful if you could tell me the marks for the timing
