Hi all.....

Im going to fit a decent audio setup hopefully to my new mk3....and wonder what kind of options i have for front and rear speakers in the doors. Its a 5 door.

My plan after reading lots about the poor sound quality of 6x9s is to have comps in all 4 doors and a sub in the boot.....

What size speakers can i fit in the doors?  And can i replace the mini speakers higher up in the doors?

17cm's in the doors all round. if you can get components you can mount the tweetes in the original positions.

a 12" sub and 4 17cm speakers in the doors should sound good.

Are all the tweeters i could get with 17cm comps going to be the right size to fit in the orginal tweeter hole? Do i need to know their size as well?

  • If in doubt, pay someone else to do it!
any tweeters will all be a similar size. hav a little look inside the grill on the dash. you dont necessarily need to get any speakers in the rear doors, it will only drag the sound stage back to behind where you sit. the money you will save will mean you can get better quality stuf, improving your sound and volume!

thats the best mk3 ive seen..ever! its just clean and subtle..

mmm thanks all for the input...

I didnt think about just having speakers up front to save money..... i suspose i dont often have back passengers......yea ill do that!  money saved already.

So are you saying all i need is 1 set of comps for the front doors and a sub and an amp?

Could i get away with a decent 4 channel amp then now?

HArdcor3 i have pmed you buddy
