I am trying to talk my brother into letting me take his VR6 engine out of his MK3, but he is not happy with the swap  dont know why, surely he realised how great it would be to have the roar of the VR6 in the MK2.  He must just be jealous he sold his Mk2 Gti for the MK3... FOOL!!

Do exactly what every1 has been telling you... GTI Cam, Full GTI exhaust (including manifold and downpipe), Weber Carb is easier to work on (has less moving parts) but im not convinced its any better than the 2E2 Pierburg... When the 2E2 is running good the car is perfect!, i wouldnt put a K&N filter on cause it will cause Carb freeze, also fit a GTI head.
Cheap fun in a 1.6... should be not far off a 8v GTI!
I LOVE THE SOUND OF CARBS IN THE MORNING

A replacement K&N filter panel (as in direct replacement) shouldn't cause carb freezing. Mine doesn't  . Don't get an induction kit or anything like that.

yeah Si`s spot on about the weber, if the the pierburg is FULLY working then its a great carb, webers in my experience are just a pain in the arse, im soon to fit a GTI head to my 1600 so ill let you know how much difference it makes, should be good as so im told by rubjonny it not only has the GTI cam in it(obviously) it had bigger valves too so if you can get a decent GTI head then your well on your way, but to get it working well you need to really drill a hole in the head for the coolant channel from the manifold as its missing. simple enuf tho apparently,....ill let you know about that too.......... :undecided:
