theres a lot of bolox talked about vr6 chains ,they can go but it is obvious if they are on there way out (usually down to bad servicing and cold thrashing)
and also often its not the chains but the tensioner that is worn and can often be solved with a new hydraulic tensioner bolt,
dont be put off a vr6 as they can go for 150 k + without major work and you just cant beat that sound or the power delivery,
