^^^^^^ fair one, but you have to admit that the mk3 8v gti was NOT a real GTI! its a fact, VW f**ked up with it, they got slated at the time and thats why the VR was born to add some performance!

Yeah that is correct. But the vr was actually born when the first mk3's came out late 1992, so it wasn't like vw made cos the 8v was sh!t!
But you are right, the 8v was really a GL, the 16v which came 1994 was quick, and the vr6 is f**king rapid
Its the same with mk4's, the 8v wasn't really a gti either, but the 1.8T and 1.9pd 130 and 150tdi are rapid. Infact the diesel lumps are definately the quickest of the lot, excluding the vr6 24v

Just to throw another log on the fire...

If your gonna get a vr6 its gotta be a corrado. The VR in the mk3 may be a sh!t hot engine, but, its still in a mk3 golf!

When i think vr6, it think corrado, and then think, oh yeah the mk3 did a lesser version too didn't they!

Let the fight begin... again!...

I've driven both, and believe me the main difference is chassis.
Lower the golf, and you get very similar performance for half the price
