Bolt on Air filter kits

Hey,

I'm after a air filter for my 1.8 driver, i can't get the typical cone filter as it's not injected.

Who make 'em?

I've asked my local Rally shop to find out but they seem to keep stalling.

Waste of time and money, drill the box and get a panel filter.

KN do a complete filter for the carb but make sure to spend the extra pennies on a cold weather kit - take a look on their website. I haven't bothered as I prefer the factory set up for getting hot air to the carb in cold weather and KN panel filters are around £40 and new std filters are £4 - and the extra flow is negligable. Depends on whether you're bother about how things look when you open the bonnet.

Also just noticed our cars are similar...red with 5 spoke revolutions...

 

Is it just buying as good panel filter and drilling the plastic box to suck in air, where about do I drill..

Ive drilled my air box and put in a k&n panel filter sounds well nice. Who needs to waste £70 on an induction kit, I just used the standered filter for a while to with no problems ..

Drill the box below the filter, it's pretty straight forward, just remove all of the gubbins from the top of it first (including the filter) . My wheels have changed and were not revolutions, something which i am yet to find out what they were called. Tbh my motor is a shed, albeit a quick one.

here's some pics of what's been done to my air box on my 16v. It's had 3 holes drilled on the engine side of the box as well as the front piece of the box near the headlight being taken out as well as the pre-heating sytem from the side.. This has had no adverse affects for me as far as losing the warm air is concerned and the gains achieved in high RPM horsepower is amazing as well as the agressive noise that bellows out!!
