add my golf to the list of breakdowns lately!

she's just ate the diff

overtook someone in 4th. changed up to 5th and there was a loud munching noise. lost all power delivery. rolled to a stop on the side of the bypass with fluid pouring out the bottom of the block. it was still ticking over, but as soon as I lifted the clutch in gear the engine stopped.

not sure yet. I'm at my mum's house and all my tools are in cardiff. Gonna get the train back so I've got the 8v to drive. Gonna source another 'box.

G60 one on e38 for £150
mk3 16v one on ebay for £190 (that's in bridgend so collection would be easy)

when I was being towed home it was out of gear and the speedo was reading 0mph. suddenly the speedo jumped to 45mph and there was a lot of noise and the car started to pull to the left while I was still attached to the back of mark's 4x4. I held it in a straight line and the noise went. it came back a few times before I got home.

can't see any holes just yet.

I'm not running any boost really at the moment. I guess I got a sh!t gearbox when I had the conversion. likely it had 200k on it ;)

£150. he says it was rebuilt 5000 miles ago so hopefully it's a good one.
