I am going to try to arrange to view the car as I live in central Scotland, so hopefully not too far away from me. I am very particular when buying a car so I'll hopefully be able to leave some useful feedback on this site re. the car's condition, etc. However, if it is totally mint, I'll be keeping it a secret all to myself.

dont you think something like that could be an investment? If you kept the milage low and kept it running surely it will only increase in value over time as the mk2 inevitably gets rarer?!?

Looks good to me anyway

thats the best mk3 ive seen..ever! its just clean and subtle.. :cool:

Hmm, not sure if I agree with that last comments. I can see it's a thing of beauty and should be kept that way, but it's also a machine that was designed for one purpose, to be driven. I suppose one or 2 mint ones in the VW hall of fame museum or whatever is cool, but not buying one as a collector just to make money on.

It's like me being a guitar player, some collectors will pay £40k on an original 60's Les Paul in mint condition, these guys probably can't play guitar and are only buying it to make more money, or as some sort of ornament. The guitar will probably spend all of it's time in that persons hands being locked up in a safety deposit box in some vault. Which is a real shame, as it's not fulfilling it's purpose.

If I had the money, I'd buy an original Les Paul, and I'd play it regularly. I'd never gig it however, that'd just be mental, in the same way if I had the cash I'd buy this Golf and drive the f**k*r regular, but I'd never enter it into a rally or suchlike!

my dad just bought a Les Paul!

i get what ur saying mate definately, but if u bought that golf and started driving it how it is supposed to be driven, all kinds of problems could cunjour up with it not being driven like it should have been! I bet the distributer is the first thing to go!
Its a shame that it hasnt been driven like it should!

When I got my MK2 8v it had been owned by the same guy for 19yrs, he had done 3k a year (64k in since 1985) in it :shocked:, after a full service it still took me a month of gentle driving before I started driving it like a gti.........she absolutely flies now!!

22k is very low, and it is bound to have a few engine black spots in it!

I think this is what were thinking of;

http://www.vw-racing.org/

The Golf MK2 Limited, with it's 16v G60 ebgine & blue front grill & only 100 ever made, that site lists most of them and where they are now.
