Hmm, not sure if I agree with that last comments. I can see it's a thing of beauty and should be kept that way, but it's also a machine that was designed for one purpose, to be driven. I suppose one or 2 mint ones in the VW hall of fame museum or whatever is cool, but not buying one as a collector just to make money on.
It's like me being a guitar player, some collectors will pay £40k on an original 60's Les Paul in mint condition, these guys probably can't play guitar and are only buying it to make more money, or as some sort of ornament. The guitar will probably spend all of it's time in that persons hands being locked up in a safety deposit box in some vault. Which is a real shame, as it's not fulfilling it's purpose.
If I had the money, I'd buy an original Les Paul, and I'd play it regularly. I'd never gig it however, that'd just be mental, in the same way if I had the cash I'd buy this Golf and drive the f**k*r regular, but I'd never enter it into a rally or suchlike!
