Boge Springs and Sachs Gas Shocks?
« on: 14 November 2003, 14:22 »
Has anybody had this setup before?

Have just bought a set of Boge springs 20mm and 4 Sachs gas shocks which are identical to the Boge Turbo Gas shocks and G60 top mounts , since VW use Boge as standard how good will this setup be?

Any help appreciated.

Probably ok , as long as you didn't buy it from German Swedish and French.

I didnt get it from GSF, bought it from VWSPARES.CO.UK.

Been reading some posts about how bad these kits are and a bit worried as i am having it fitted tomorrow.

Spoke to TSR and they also do the kit, they say its fine as they get theirs straight from Boge, they also mentioned GSF not being proper.

The struts are in Sachs boxes, called Sachs Advantage, they have the made in Germany label on them.

Springs are in box, made by Boge and are 20mm lowering, i have asked GSF about their Boge springs and thaey only do 35mm and lower so hopefully the ones I got are ok.

The boge springs GSF do are un-even on the fronts. I have seen several sets of these. Good luck, i hope they are ok.

Is there any way of checking if they are uneven, I mean is it obvious just by looking at them side by side?

Thanks

Just compare each spring like for like. When assembling the front struts, the springs should need compressing, if they don't and you can move the spring when the strut is assembled then reject the kit.

The boge springs you buy from aftermarket places are nothing like the original springs in terms of quality or metal type.

Having a set in my shed that I replaced as they were naff i wouldnt recommend this set up to anyone.
