I remember seeing a program about mk4's where peoples car were getting robbed but there was no sign of any attempted break in - people would find their car doors & windows open like you described  :shocked: there was a fault with the alarm or something, well dodgy if you ask me

That is a fault on some pre 98 vw models where the lock can be popped out of the handle, giving access to the wiring to release the windows.

ok, so this is actually part of the design then ......??? also i would say its not so much a few seconds as maybe half a second , i have to consciously make sure i do a quick flick of the wrist to make sure it doesnt happen .......is there any official word from VW about this "feature" ?

I have total closure on my mk2 built into my clifford alarm

maybe this is total openure (new word!) built into mk4 golfs :D not ideal this time of year though.

I'd check the wiring on the back of the barrel, or maybe get VW to check the barrel itself or the window controller unit.

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.

It is in the handbook, but it should'nt happen as quick as it is :undecided:
