Car smokes when left idling for more than a few minutes. Never on start up, never when using the power, just idling. Was thiking it must be stems but is this just wishful thinking?

defo sounds like it could be the stems dude!nice and cheap but not so easy when youve never done it on a 16v

Thanks mate. I wouldn't even attempt it - I fix PCs not cars
There's a place here that does it for £70 apparantly. Sound about right? Don't suppose there'd be any saving in getting the cambelt done at the same time?

i do my own so as far as prices go i wouldnt know but it sounds about right.defo do the cam belt while youre at it its gonna need it at some pooint anyway and while its all off you might aswell!

If you're getting the head taken off to do them then deffo new timing belt and tensioner. Last set I did was without removing the head as the leak down tests were good.

yeah dude i did the conversion so that i could have bigger brakes!!!!hahaha stops on a button now!
dont panic macky its ok to say that even tho you are a fellow geezer lol theyre off an audi a4 16"speedlines awkward tyre size but heh theyre different!

Aye, the colours a bit funny on pic sig pic, due to sunlight, bad camera etc. But it's the same colour as yours, the storm gray. So have you still got the twin light grill on? I have with an eyebrow spoiler thingy, looks the dogz. C'mon you 5 doors!

yeah i still got genuin grill and i too had a brow on it but it flew off at about 125mph after some chav tried to pinch it!!wayne kerrs!!lol
that pic was taken with my moby after it had been polished didnt think it had come out that bad.yours looks like its in better nick that mine,mines been keyed a few times now!sh!t one!
