if your mpg is reading that high its normally due to a spilt in the vacuum hose that feed the  clocks. check for a hose going through the bulk head and that it is intact. have your clocks ever been taken out?

err not right now, think it comes off the inlet manifold and goes through the bulkhead to the back of the clocks. basiclly it  could either be split or more than likely if the clocks have been out, the hose wasn't put back on. it can pop off if you don't know its there when you pull the clocks out. so if it was removed by accident it might not have been put back.

just go round the top of the inlet manifold and look for a bit of tube going through to the back of the dash

Heres a link that I was given a couple of weeks back - The braided hose in front of the blue arrow is the MFA one. Mine was disconnected due to a split hose, sent the MFA mad..............

if the hose has come off from the back of the clock the reading will show '99.9' mpg am i right?

look at the inlet manifold and there is a 'T' connector with a vacume hose on each end. Also check the airbox pipes

sounds like a split hose

^^ nah that will be fine. actually i agree with blue, if the hose is disconnected it'll read 99.9, so its  more likely to be a bit of crappy hose!
