my sunroof leaks..the seals on top of the car are all ok, but inside theres a gap all around the fitting, is there a way i can till if its a factory fitted one or a bad home fitted one ?

electric windows..the driver side only opens 2 inches then gets stuck, ive looked the runner is rusted and knackered, but how easy to fit a new one, the passanger side has no motor, don't ask was like it when i brought it, how easy to fit. and is ebay the best place to buy electric windows from ?

i dont seam to have normal headlights, i can have dipped or full beam but not in between any idea's ?

the headlights, dash lights and interior lights all flicker, not alot but i notice it, any idea's why ?

i have no pas, how easy is it to fit, and where to buy ?

I doubt if your seals are OK if it is leaking.  You can get a new seal, but fitting it is an art, I gather.

Sounds like one of your earth leads may be loose / missing.

I asked this myself a few days ago.  Check the thread in Mk2 section.  How handy are you with a bag of spanners?!  Cost is about $200 for second hand set, a little more for new parts.

Not sure quite what your asking, but lights are either dipped bema, or high beam!?!?  Not aware of a "semi beam" or whatever

Should be lucky with a scrap yard for that sort of thing, remember 3 and five door mechanisms are the same.

Check the back of the headlamp connector, may be a bit dodgy? Could also be an earth problem somewhere, i had this probelm, and fixed it with the relay setup!

Aha, i see now Makes a bit more sense now! Check the fuses, if you havent already, and also the dim-dip can do this, or so i've heard, not sure if its correct  !!

Power steering - you may be able to buy the bits relatively easily but I would not advise a second hand rack purely because a - new ones are quite reasonable from GSF or Euro Car Parts, and b - they can be a nightmare to fit! You can fit the pump resevoir and piping whilst on the ground but will need access to a ramp (preferably a 2 post ramp) in order to fit the rack. You will need to drop the exhaust front pipe (heat required to ensure no snapped studs) and the front subframe in order to get the new rack in, it can then be difficult to reconnect the steering column, I've been MOT'ing cars rebuiling engines and gearboxes and building track cars for the best part of 20 years and even with access to a ramp etc it still took 5.5 hours to retro fit pwr steering!! and if it has taken that long the last thing you want to do is find that the second hand one you have bought does not work and you need to do it all again!

 You can fit a new steering rack by supporting the body on stands, supporting the subframe with a jack, removing the two rear subframe bolts and loosening the front ones, subframe tilts back enough to slide out the rack thru passenger wheelarch..it's a bit fiddley but if you've no access to ramp etc it's your best bet...  You will need, reservoir, hoses, o rings, pump, pulley, brackets, new belt and probably a new steering column-to-rack linkage as my existing one was from a manual rack and didn't fit the new pas jobbie......

Check the drain holes in the sunroof area, front & rear.  The front tubes run down the a pillar and exit between the wing & front door, the tube then passes through a gap in the wing.  If the wing has been changed the hose may be pinched here.  The rear holes drain into the rear arch.  Open the sunroof all the way and pour a little water into the drainage area, it should drain away quickly
On the inside of the car there should be a felt seal that runs round the edge of the roof hole, perhaps it's missing?

GSF sell a kit for just over £100, its very good quality and easy to fit, or you can buy just the regulators either side for about £40 each.

The headlight switch should have 2 clicks, 1st click is sidelights, second is dipped/main beam.  What happens if you pull the indicator stalk towards you?

When you have the headlights on, does it switch between main & dipped beam, and light up the blue light on the dash?
