Ok, sounds crazy but ive been toying with the idea for a while now.
If anybody has ever looked at a series 25 1.6 Camper Van engine then they may know what im gonna talk about?!...
They have got a Heater blower attached to the Alternator, (looks like Supercharger). Anyway, it bolts to the Alternator fixing bolts and the middle shaft drives the blower / fan.
Now, ive been thinking i could fit this blower to my 1.6 Driver Alternator and direct the air flow to airfilter? trouble is the Alternator shaft on Golf isnt long enough as it has a spacer to step pulley away from Timing belt cover.
Questions i need answering are---
1) What VW Alternator has a very long shaft that could be used?
2) If i got it to fit, it would be blowing a huge ammount of air to intake on idle, aswell as driving, how could i create a valve to shut off air on idle?
3) It would underfuel loads, how could i get more fuel to Carb to compensate air / fuel ratio?
4) Would i need non-return valves on fuel lines to stop blow back?
I will take photos tommorow.
