Wow! I just did some playing around on elephant, and if i add my dad on to the policy as a 2nd driver for a mk3 1.5CL golf the quote drops from £2800 to £2333 ! Not bad! but still quite pricey... Although if i change to a '95 model Polo L (Small engine i know!) the quote drops to £1900! not bad! Quite like polos too, they may not be sporty but comfy drive - its what im learning in at the moment. So when it comes time i may dish out for a Polo instead of the golf i wanted, then after ive paid out the cash for buying the polo and insurance i can save up and get myself a nice mk2/mk3 golf - Sorn it and work on it until i have it the way i want, then by the time ive done any mods/work on the car it needs i should have a years NCB too add onto getting the insurance lower! sounds like a plan to me!. What do you guys think?.

i found that if you phone them they are cheaper, i was quoted 1380 on the net, phoned elephant and it was actually £930, i also found that when i put both my parents on my insurance aswell, the cost actually went down by about 150 pound,

TBH man, a metro aint a bad thing, think about it, would you rather pay through the nose for a Golf now, or wait 1 year with 1 years NCB. Where it will be financially alot smarter?

Just something to think about.

Thats true! My dads still trying to persuade me to go for something "More sensibile" for a first car (He's talking about *snigger* 1litre metros!)

It's a fact of life matey, you need to start off with a smaller engined car to get the no claims bonus up, my first insurance years ago was £275 TPFT and I wouldn't have even considered paying over 1k. Best bet is to take your time and dont walk before you can run.

Oh no, I just realised I probably sounded like your dad.

go on to www.confused.com you type in your details once and it searches round all the online insurers and gives you about 12 quotes. I got some guddens on my scirocco, with my points and claim taken into consideraton.
