Forget the metro - get a mini!

They great, noones gonna sniff at one and you can have the golf in a year or so when you have some ncb's. its what i did and now i still have my mini even though im driving round in the gti i wanted to start with.
I remember when i was 18 i got quoted £1700 for the golf and the mini was £460, so it made sense. and now i have 3 years ncb the golf only costs £620.

I was quite intrested in the mini, but around here all you can get are either low priced rust buckets or decent minis that are stupidly over priced!.

Didn't you say your dad was in the motor trade ? :wink: Get him on the case, he must have some contacts somewhere that can get a decent cheap runabout.

We actually have a garage literally around the corner which deals in just classic minis, his forecourts full of them - But they're that overpriced some have been there for as long as i can remember! Its crazy.

Yeah minis are cool, but as you said, their either cheap rust buckets or the decent ones are very expensive.

Go for a Polo. I bought a Mk2 Polo (D reg) for £150 off ebay last year as a run around, 1litre engine, was lots of fun driving it round the yorkshire dales.
I now have an N reg Polo L, but with the 1.4 engine, it's really nippy, fun round country roads and comfortable for long journeys. Electric mirrors, airbag, full service history, 1 owner (slightly high mileage) but all for £1000.
Costs me £660 to insure, but I'm a high risk apparently cost I work in Radio and live in London.

Will be getting another Mk2 GTI soon, when the Mrs has passed her test.
