Accident
« on: 10 November 2005, 14:49 »
At approx. 4pm Tuesday 8th November 2005 I was driving down the Western Ave. A40 between the Polish war memorial & Hillingdon turn off. The day before I had collected by 1991 mk2 16v oak green golf from the garage where it had been extensively worked on, head gasket, valve stem seals etc. I was cruising at approx. 45/50 mph due to turn off at the next junction 1/2 a mile away. At this time the rear of my vehicle was severely impacted upon by another car, my head thrown back into the headrest. I looked in my rear view mirror to see a bmw compaq in transverse position rotating 12/15 feet above the road surface. The car hit the central reservation then landed in the middle lane. The instigators were in a Peugeot, they stopped their vehicle and fled the scene into the nearby field. Miraculously the driver of the BMW was ok apart from some minor cuts & bruises.

Today I left my car with the insurance approved body repair guy who informed me that the car would most likely be a classed as a total loss! The rear panel & bumper is crushed along with the underside of the car. It is driveable & still drives like a dream. I am devastated, having the car for more than 6yrs, there's nothing I can do. I have asked for and taken advice from this forum & am numb at the thought of losing my golf.

Saying that the golf probably saved me from severe injury as the damage is contained to the rear of the vehicle.

I know I won't receive the car's value. I just wanted to air my loss & frustration.

Thankyou for reading my story......

Kam.

Ask to see if you can buy the car back. Its always possible it could be repaired. Or at least stripped for good parts.

there must be some sort of conspiracy going round, there are quite a few mark 2 owners losing their pride and joys at the hand of some fcuk wit!! Myself included!

I am not going to admit defeat with mine, it will me driven again!! but then again mine isnt that bad, despite being unnofficially classes as a right off by an assesor!!

def get the car back and salvage the bits that can be salvaged!!

Sorry to hear that dude, ive recently crashed mine due to some tw*t who couldnt drive! My car was unofficially written off (total loss) but ive nearly finished rebuilding it. Mk2's bolt together basically and every panel is replacable. The insurance just write it off due to its age / value.
Dont give up, buy it back, fix it! ...or else!

dude i know how youre feeling.get together all recipts for the car and any good pics you have of her and ring volkswizard and ask to speek to a guy called andy.when my car got hit last year i spoke to him and he sent me an evaluation of my car to give to the insurance twa ts.i also went to autohause and they did the same.as the oak green and certain other colours of mk2 are collectable this will show the true value of the vehicle insuring you get what it is actualy worth it worked for me dude cant hurt to try.when you speek to andy quote my name, jamie edmonds and grey 5 door and mention about the accident he should remember me as i spoke to him quite alot over that period.hope this helps .jamie
