Difficult to give an ‘armchair diagnosis’ from the information provided but with your car being a 2018 facelift model - an mk7.5 - its likely it’ll be fitted with a petrol particulate filter (GPF) and if so, it’s possible it might be going through a forced / active GPF regeneration to neutralise accumulated particulate matter in the filter.

If you try the process for helping to keep the GPF clear of accumulated particulate matter that’s outlined in my post at the above link, please report back for the benefit of other forum members on whether or not it corrects your high rpm issue.
