Software glitches? Anyone experienced these
« on: 15 March 2026, 13:38 »
Golf gti mk8.5 - steering heating set to turn on automatically when outside temperature is cold is not turning on at all even though display is saying it is on. Sat nav not booting up on start up - saying starting and shows blanked out map with twirling disc. Sat nav position also out by 100-200m. Switching car on vague outline of display rev and speedo and infotainment screen showing only background colours and tiles - car would not start. This cleared after 20 seconds. Anyone experienced these glitches? Anyone had these fixed with major software update ps4? Understand needs to be in dealer for 2 days to do this....any advice appreciated, thx

Yep I've had quite a few.   Pretty sure mine are all software related too!

I've also had sporadic disappearance of numbers on speedo briefly and then they return.  Don't get me started on the heated seats and steering wheel auto function.  Ive turned it off now as it didn't come on in baltic temperatures, but the seat came on the other day when ambient temperature was well over 10 degrees
Have had few glitches with infotainment system where it lags and have to do a hard reset.  Its all a little frustrating really!

Anyways I've now booked mine in at my local VW dealer, but got to wait until end of April before they can give me an appointment with courtesy car!   This apparently is due to all courtesy cars being booked out due to a large recall of their ID electric vehicles.

Not a software glitch but wondering if anyone can shed light: the hotkey bar at the top, this generally holds maximum of 4 hotkeys (right of the temperature in the middle for RHD). For a while I had a 5th hotkey which was left of the temp, but since I changed a couple, the 5th key has disappeared and I can’t figure out how to get it back. Everything I read tells me maximum of 4, but I defo had 5, so it can be done. Unless, it was a glitch….

I worked it out for anyone else wondering or just not being stupid like me 🤣 there isn’t a 5th hotkey, but what happens is is that if CarPlay isn’t one of the 4 hotkeys, when it starts up, the CarPlay icon appears to the left effectively making it a 5th hot key when the car is on. But you can’t exchange it for another. Mystery solved….

I have had this and still have it. But it's not a fault or a glitch. If you look closely the numbers disappear briefly when you are driving from one speed limit to another. The display is also changing the maximum speed limit on both the drivers display and the infotainment screen. But on the Speedo, all of the numbers except the new speed limit number disappears and also the little red pointer realigns to the new speed limit. This only happens for a second or so and then all of the numbers on the Speedo reappear.

Hope that makes sense.
