« on: Today at 10:35 »
Im on my second Mk8 GTI, which is coming up to 2 years old. VW have got this discount offer over the next week or so and i have been offered an 8.5 in Dolphin Grey for a swap costing £7250. just a bit concerned about the Luxury car tax for the next 5 years.
Whats your thoughts?

Funny that, I got my VED bill this morning and seeing the amount brought tears to my wallet. But what do you do? Unless you keep downgrading or buy an old car, you're stuffed. Even my brother-in-law, who is very cautious in opening his wallet for such things, has been surprisingly relaxed about it.

So, if you really want to change your car so soon, £7250 to change doesn't sound too bad if it's what you want, then I say do it and enjoy

How long did you keep the first mk8 for Valentino?
If you’re buying new and keep the car for around (just under) 2 years again you’ll only have to pay the £600 once, then all you have to do is not think about the new car registration VED loaded into the new car’s price which is a tad more than £600

Having owned two mk8’s myself and now an 8.5 I can say that the facelift car is a worthy upgrade and a bit less ugly than the mk8 so you’ll be happier looking out of the front room window at it.

Thanks for the replies.
I kept my first MK8 for three years, and the current one is 23 months. I just feel that if i keep it another 12 months, the financial gap will be too wide.
Anyway i am going on Monday to have a face to face chat-- see how it goes

What spec is the Dolphin grey 8.5?
Bear in mind you get winter pack and park assist as standard on an 8.5 so that’s worth a few quid when you’re contemplating the cost to change figure.
