One year in, starting some mods
« on: 27 September 2025, 08:44 »
Hi All, I've owned my 2019 manual pp for about a year now so starting some mods.

Planning a soft dogbone insert, rear sway bar and the Helix sub system for now.

I've also had the rear main seal done under warranty, and then need to be done again. But that's a different story.

Also want to get the diff and gearbox serviced so any tips welcome.

Thanks!

Hi Cbolt

Maybe post some of those things up separately in the mk7 section as there’s a wealth of experience on here.
Another recommendation for a cheap but effective mod on a 7.5 GTI is a PedalBox (or similar from various different manufacturers) have a search on here for lots of threads.

Hi Exonian,

Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely do some searching and post if needed. The pedalbox sounds interesting, I'll have a look out for that!

Thanks

I've taken a pedalbox off recently which was originally on a MK7 manual PP. Let me know if it is of interest, I'll be moving it on pretty cheap. I had it on two cars and it was excellent, transforms the response.

It was a DTE/DTUK pedalbox, they don't do them anymore. It has plenty of different settings, just plugs into the accelerator pedal wiring. Exactly like this one in the fitting guide - https://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=276517.0

Took about 5 minutes. You just need to remove the small panel by the pedal for easy access.
