Just curious - how many people use the voice and chat controls

Just curious to see how many people use the voice and chat controls and how useful they find it?

I only use it via android auto and through the waze app, it works brilliantly for that to search for destinations, far easier than typing it manually.

I'll have to be honest I'm not sure I've got it for anything else.

If you mean the vw one... No it barely ever succeeds. I must actually remember to turn it off because it keeps popping up when I'm talking to passengers. It doesn't seem to understand "f*** off!" either

In my previous mk8 it was not very good, and mostly didn’t work as you’d expect it to, but in my 8.5 it works fine, I don’t use it for much though, mostly to turn the heads up display on and off, or to change driving modes, sometimes use it to change temperature. Occasionally I ask it questions which it answers via ChatGPT, works as you’d expect on the whole.

I think it works well.  I use it all the time to change temperature and setting driving modes.  The ChatGPT works well on a journey to find out about places.  I wish I could find a list of all the commands that it will do but so far no luck.  VW documentation falls somewhat short with "what noise does a cow make"  Pity it will not turn off the lane assist and speed warnings though.

I have renamed mine to respond to "Hello Kitt" (I am hoping most of you are old enough to know who that is) and I asked it to tell me a joke. It said that it's developers did not teach it any jokes but it would give it a go. It then said that it had problems working out how to put the seatbelt on and then it just clicked.

My kind of joke, so it looks like I have a new friend.

It looks like my car doesn't have the feature available via the native software. This feature not available or some similar message.
Was this an option on early Mk8s?

Anyway as I said it works via android auto on 3rd party apps such as google or waze so the work around is fine.

I just wondered if there is a way I can control the temperature settings via voice, more out of curiosity than anything else.

You need the vw one to control anything on the car itself. The voice control was included on the early UK MK8's and then later was a paid for option... What reg is your car?
