I have service plan but brake fluid change is £72 extra
Does make me wonder if they actually change it at all tbh, there is no way you could ever be sure its been done not like an oil and filter where you can see its been.
I had doubts over whether the dealer actually changed the engine oil in my car a couple of services ago. The ‘new’ oil didn’t look any cleaner than the old oil, and if it was fresh oil, I was short changed on the amount used (it barely reached the minimum mark on the dipstick and it was at the max mark on the dipstick prior to the service) angry:. Prior to that service, the dealer - previously a small-ish dealership group - had been taken over by one of the large multi franchise national dealerships and since the takeover, customer service definitely seemed to have taken a noticeable downturn.
The cynic in me would say they maybe they just removed a small quantity of oil with one of those oil extractor pumps so the level on the dipstick would be different if I checked it (I do, and regularly); a good money maker for the dealer if that’s what they’re doing. Hopefully they’re not employing such a deceitful, underhanded practice; even if they’re not, IMHO short measure on the new oil isn’t good enough when I’ve paid for VW’s recommended / specified quantity of oil.
I subsequently raised it with the service advisor who just responded with an apathetic shrug of the shoulders; no explanation over why I might have got short measure, no offer to top up the oil or give me a free 1 litre top up bottle by way of an apology. I’ve not been back to that dealer since…………..
Rant over!
