You *wanted* a change Watts.

Unfortunately the most competent scorer in all areas and certainly the car that would amass the most points if you tallied them all up also looks its best in blue.

So much for change eh?

At least it would be a change of colour…

Lapiz is rather good! If the drive on Thursday is no good then I'll 'park' the idea for now and perhaps see how the Ed50 turns out. Tornado Red might be too good to miss...

Suzuki Swift Sport manual!

I just sold my Golf GTI PP 7.5 6 weeks ago. I previously had a 14 plate Golf GTD mk7 which I bought brand new and kept for 5 years, an i30n brand new which I sold after 6 months of ownership as it just wasn't comfortable for daily driving compared to my GTD before that. A Ford Focus ST-line brand new which was a good car and I kept for a year. I've been changing cars way more than I'd like to and just couldn't find something that is always putting a smile on my face no matter what speed I drive at. I loved my older standard Polos and Golfs which felt so light and with a manual gearbox.

After watching so many reviews on Youtube, I picked up the last UK registered Suzuki Swift Sport in July this year. Although it is cheaper than all the cars above, it is by far the most fun and I haven't stopped smiling when driving it, something I haven't felt since I had my first ever VW Polo over 20 years ago. I've got a family car too so this Suzuki is just for the fun factor but can't imagine selling this and seems like this drive is what I've been missing. Also, it comes with a 10 year warranty as long as it's serviced at the main dealer each year.

If anyone is looking for a smaller car and you enjoy driving a manual gearbox, I highly recommend the latest Swift Sports. There are no brand new ones left though and low mileage ones get snapped up pretty quickly.

Is the Swift Sport still a naturally aspirated engine?
Suzuki make/made some decent small and affordable cars such as the Swift and Jimmy but they suffer high emissions and a lack of turbo mid-range oomph in give and take driving.

The latest Swift Sport has a 1.4 Boosterjet engine which is turbo charged, it's a mild hybrid too. It feels so much quicker than it actually is and I think that is down to the light weight. My GTI suffered with a lot of low end turbo lag whereas the Suzuki feels very nippy.

Watts, if you are considering the R in Lapis and looked at an A5, I assume an Audi is a possibility?

I wateched this recently, which was quite a good comparison of R vs S3.

That was useful, thanks. There's something about the Audi that is not for me.

I agree, somehow the S3 doesn't quite work for me either, even in that red colour!

Interesting comparison in that the expected R love in we have on a GOlf forum highlights the ride on the R. I am not sure I could live with that?

I'm thinking more Clubsport than R partly for that reason. If my test drive tomorrow is unconvincing then I might hold off until prices are released for the Ed50. Current Clubsport colour choices seem a bit boring.
