Well after 5 months I’ve just ordered a replacement! New Audi A5 Avant coming in 3 weeks. Absolutely love the GTI and sure I’ll probably regret it, just fancied something a bit bigger.
Car will be for sale if anyone is on the lookout for one, before WBAC get it

The first year RFL on the Clubsport is doubling from £1095 to £2190.
I had it put on my price from the start in january so if its lucky enough to be registered before 1st april then £1095 will come off. My car is also getting build this week but not holding my breath for it being here in time.

The standard Gti is in a lower rfl band due to lower CO2 figure.

Wowzers that's eye watering..

Yes all of the first year rates have doubled.... that and the luxury car tax makes owning a new one of these an expensive thing.

Not as bad as Ireland mind you

The road tax on my R here is €600, ye are catching up with us!!

Mind you that’s after about €25k vehicle registration tax in the price so maybe not…

From April 1 2025, the annual road tax (applicable between yrs 2-6) for any petrol car initially costing more than £40k will be an eye watering £620 (£195 basic plus £425 'luxury car tax' supplement), so quite a bit more than 600 euros. Remember that, despite its name, this is just yet another general tax. Relatively little of the massive income gets spent on the roads, as we can all clearly see.

Have to agree with you on the roads - have been travelling to England periodically for years and the roads are in shocking condition to be honest these days.

Even when they do get resurfaced, they end up falling apart again after only 18 months to 2 years, partly down to tendering out the work and then selecting the cheapest contractor each and every time!

A shame to see you move on (so soon) but I’d imagine the Audi was much nicer inside and more comfortable

Yeah I’ll definitely miss it for performance. I’ve always been an Audi man, and the A5 will have more room to fit camping gear and a Weimaraner in.

I wouldn’t have changed if it wasn’t for the strong residuals, will work out having cost me about £460 a month for 6 months so not too bad at all. And the huge discount on the A5 despite it being a just released model

Sounds like a win/win and especially for the woof woof who must lament the lack of space in the Golf after the Van.

Just had an email from the dealer to say that the car is on the boat! Not sure how long that means left to wait but its nearly in the country at last.
