Have you ordered an 8.5 ?

Hi all, first time poster here (returning to the forum after 5 years away) - ordered an 8.5 Clubsport last week in Kings Red with almost a full options list. Managed to bag £4500 towards my finance deposit, £600 discount & parking pack as a freebie. I guess the dealer was very keen to get my business !
Been told to expect Dec - Feb for delivery.

Hey @PhillyJ81, how is your order progressing?? I ordered a near fully optioned 265 GTI just before yourself, I too was quoted late December / early Jan delivery! However my car is now at Status 40 (in the UK) and will be at the dealership imminently, has your order moved along with similar speed??

I was contacted a few days ago & the order was at Wolfsburg awaiting to be accepted into production. Unsure what ststus that would be.

Well I took delivery Monday after work. Had it for 48 hours before taking it in for Gtechniq ceramic coating. Also had them debadge the GTI logos from the doors and boot. Got it back this afternoon looking how it should do from the dealers.
 Only done 40 miles so far, feels a world away from my Transporter - haven’t driven a car in 6 years! Van being sold next week hopefully to pay off the bulk of the finance

Looks amazing!!! Can I ask how much the coating was please? Really interested in getting it done

Since I posted that, there has been a change....
They asked me to go back in person to get the order amended. Even though the VW website allows you to specify Queenstowns AND PP together, the VW system doesn't permit it, i saw it myself. The wheel with the PP is diamond turned Estorils, not too much of a problem for me as they were my 2nd choice. Interesting to see you can still select Queenstowns on the configurator.
I originally specified two tone red/black paint via Carwow, but was later told that wasnt available either.
Order now sorted anyway & is now with the factory waiting to be built, was updated a couple of days ago.

I can only comment on what I saw myself, I was using their tablet to add my extras on & it showed the Estorils only. There may have been an option to have black Warmenau design wheels but don't hold me to that. As I said, we used their system to build it, they said the VW website was very mixed up as it wouldn't allow them to process the order with the options I selected off the website.

It was £478 by a Gtechniq approved detailer. Paint and glass, he would have done the wheels too but I said I’ll be changing them soon. But when I do he will coat my new wheels for me

As your in the market for an 8.5 Clubsport with black Estoril wheels, you may want to call up listers VW in Evesham, I’ve been there today and they have an 8.5 CS with black Estorils, pan roof, area view and harman kardon in Crystal ice blue metallic in the showroom, it’s only been in there for a day or two and they’ve had lots of interest already, could be a great way of skipping the long wait for one.

It looked absolutely awesome to be honest! Made me doubt my choice of Dolphin for my GTI. Although I don’t think crystal ice blue would look quite right with the red grill stripe which my car will have, this car had the black pack though, what a car!, had I not of already ordered I think I would have left there today as its owner, no joke!, I’d take it over a slightly bigger spoiler and akra all day long, the saving on the PP would pay for this ones many other options, plus it has the wheels you prefer. Each to their own though of course, different strokes for different folk! as they say.
