Full marks to TurboTrev

@ Watts, Joe, BillSan I was 80/20 on getting a Clubsport next.
Probably 60 Ed50, 20 Clubby, 20 Blk Edn R before the Ed50 details were released. With a distinct possibility I’d nab an interesting spec 265 GTI if one came up on a short wait at a good price.

I was born near the Tamar and grew up mostly by the Exe with brief patches near the Wye, the Aller is relatively close by though BillSan, wrong county though

@Paul70:  love RS3’s but not leather seats. Too chilly on my bum at 5am in winter! Same goes to @monkeyhanger  (plus I’m too poor/stingy to buy one)

@Snoopy:   maybe next time!!

@SR: I love the idea of an Electric JCW or A290 but… maybe next time round (or mobility scooter!) 😁

@Beebopper: saw an ID.3 GTX (well a brace of them actually) in my local dealers up for decent money but can’t bring myself to do it yet.
There’s a Born VZ parked on the driveway of a house I nearly bought about 10 years ago funnily enough. I see it most days. Both car and house look pretty good to me!

@CarbonGTD: it came very close to being a Clubby again!
Although the R was on PCP I fully owned the Clubsport so put in the max allowable deposit on the R from the proceeds and had money back, thus had lots of equity in the R and put some of the change from the Clubby into this latest car. Probably a dreadful investment but cars are anyway so I’ll just shrug that one off!

Just DCC, no other extras.

After two Clubsports and a TCR, plus a long line of VW’s with upgraded wheels and other subtle mods, the thing Daisy lacked was a bit of visual ooomph when I approached the car from some angles. One of those personal things only an enthusiast would be bothered by!

The Black Edition has that extra visual clout without being OTT

This car was picked from a list of available build slots using a recent VW UK promo, unfortunately the Clubsports and 265 GTI’s on the list had high spec so made them less ££££ competitive. That made the choice of car very easy for me so I jumped in quick in case someone else nabbed it. The dealership know me well and were great, and the car was built a week or two sooner than scheduled.

Thanks Watts.
This one doesn’t have an interesting enough numberplate that (almost) spells out a name.
With Daisy it was easy: DSY plate and some udders hanging below the rear bumper.

The only other car I had that got named was back in around 2011/12 at Asker’s insistence.

I did wonder what the origin of Daisy’s name was - thanks for explaining. The only time I’ve ever called a car of mine anything has been if it’s gone wrong / broken down, so the Vauxhall Viva HC I owned in the 1970’s got called many things!

Ah Asker………(forum name am1w I think); that’s a name I remember from the past. He was definitely a character . I remember he had a mk6 GTI in Tornado Red that I’m sure he would have named but I can’t remember what its name was. He later changed the mk6 GTI for a mk7 R, also in Tornado Red - I think he may have had a 3 series BMW for a time after the GTI and before the R.

The black edition is a great standard spec, DCC is the only extra "required" and I fully get the visual thing.  19" wheels and the rear spolier all standard, combined with the blacked out parts, gives the car the "clout" that is required to make it perfect.  Enjoy.
