Also larger chromed exhaust pipes on a 7.5 but not sure about a Mk 7.

Out of interest - how do you change infotainment language?

7.5 has bigger tailpipes than 7 regardless of performance pack or not 7 the are same size on both.

I don’t wish to be rude or go slightly off topic but what would be the advantage of importing a Golf from Japan?
Pardon my ignorance in advance.

Can be cheaper and RHD. I read somewhere (on here I think) that rust protection may not be up to UK / EU standards as Japan does not salt roads in Winter, not sure how true that is though.

So what does identify a PP, I’m assuming badging is a useless identifier as they can be changed easy enough. I’ve read about the red lettering under the bonnet, and now about exhaust tips….. I’ve not had chance to put mine next to another example to compare the brakes and callipers, I’ve just had a look in the bay, see if I can see a unit rather than a drive shaft, unsure what I’m looking for on one of these, my old fiesta turbo, I knew every part and bolt having taken it to bits a thousand times….. but these much more modern things aren’t the same

Spoke to my supplying dealer, they didn’t have a scooby what I was talking about

The differences as new were the diff, vented rear brakes, 230PS over 220PS and bigger front discs with the GTI logo on the calipers. The GTI badging was also in red however all early MK7s had silver badges so that's no guarantee. Given most things are easily upgraded, the safest way of visually checking would be the diff which is less likely to be changed. Ultimately though, if you are unsure, the sticker in the handbook will quote the engine power in KW.

So after looking at my current insurance renewal that has it down as a Golf GTi Tsi 230 1984cc petrol 5dr automatic

So is that 230 for Bhp or for PS?

230PS so that must be a PP.

This is the thing, got the big tail pipes, can’t see a drive shaft so assuming it’s got the diff, red Tsi under bonnet, but doesn’t appear to have a vented rear disc, could prevent owner have put wrong rear discs on for cheapness?  and can’t see any kind of logo on the callipers, but the paint is fresher than I’d expect it to be for the age of the car…. So expect they’ve not bothered wi to the logo again. Had no badges on the rear but silver on the front. I hate full chrome so I’ve changed that for the red and out the red one back on the back too.

Either way, it goes like stink when you want it, and it’s frugal on the commute. Should have bought one years ago!

Check the spec label in your handbook, 230PS in KW is 169 so it should have that printed.
