Help identify this type of MK7
« on: 15 June 2023, 11:14 »
Hello, I recently bought a MK7 from Japan and I think it may have a performance pack but I’m not sure. Can anyone confirm or disprove this from looking at the photos?

Thanks!

Easiest way IIRC is if its got "GTI" on the front brake caliper.

Im sure too a non PP Golf has silver badges front and rear, whereas a PP one has red badges.

So it looks like yours is maybe a PP??

Although these could have easily been doctored to make it look like a PP, see if its got the VAQ diff thats probably the best way of determining.

Also larger chromed exhaust pipes on a 7.5 but not sure about a Mk 7.

Out of interest - how do you change infotainment language?

Thanks. Yeah re: the infotainment system… I think there’s a way of doing it, saw some guides on YouTube. I was gonna start a new thread here on that question.

OP - original question - superficially judged on the photographs, the badging in fill in red suggests PP.

On subject of infotainment, surely using Google Translate app pointed at the screen is going to be the fastest way of working through the menu system. Appreciate following an instructional video will give you steps from ignition but if any of the steps don't match, you're working blind.

Maybe look for settings (設定). Next Language (言語),

Bigger problem might be the frequency for the radio as I think Japan only goes to 80mhz

PP has larger Front discs and GTI plague on front calipers, also has VAQ front diff so look down below intake pipe in engine bay and see if can see a unit bolted to side of gearbox or just a driveshaft (if none PP)
