Swopped the wheel over fits mk8 perfect same floor pan.
VW wanted £535 for a spare wheel and jack etc!!

Can you post a picture, please. Does your car have the curved recess at the tailgate panel? Thanks.

Will post one up when I get chance no doesn't have curved access in panel but floor pan and cutout is same all fits perfectly as mk7.5.

Thank you to willni who tried his 7.5 space saver 125 x 70 x 18 and tools in the wheel well of my Mk 8 to confirm they fitted. I have now got a wheel and tools in my car. I bought a new wheel for £75 from eBay and the tools for £70. I also bought the large centre plastic wheel retainer (screw) for £20. I can also confirm my rear panel at the boot lock did not need to be changed to accommodate the 18” wheel. My car had the curved panel as standard.  I now have a spare panel if anyone needs one, although I don’t know why you would. 😂. All in £165 which I think is money well spent if you ever need to use it. Another one of the cost savings employed by VW on the Mk 8.

Her it is the wrong way round. The centre retaining screw doesn’t catch.

I have never spoken to a dealer about price. Previous posts here have quoted £400 to £500.

That is one of the odd things I've always found in VWs that their space savers are nearly always some weird Chinese tyre company... apparently there are some Conti ones knocking around..  so tempted to find one but knowing my luck it will just mean I get a puncture.

New LingLong and a new wheel. 🤗 At least it’s not a DingDong! You can find wheels with Contis on them but you’ll pay a lot more and it won’t be a new wheel. I haven’t seen many articles discussing the handling characteristics of space savers. They are limited to 50 mph for a reason.  Emergencies only!

Right I'm searching YT... I can't believe someone somewhere hasn't fitted four space-savers to their car and ragged it!
