Front assist amber warning triangle
« on: 09 February 2022, 09:22 »
Sigh, so new (to me) car was going well until front assist warnings appeared at start of drive to Scotland yesterday. Google suggests it will need a recalibration from dealer (already booked in next week for something else) but wondered if anyone has any ideas?

Otherwise car is great, handles Scottish twisties very nicely, just what i hoped for. Its quite firmly spring, probably more than i expected and has great steering and plenty of grunt. Think i am glad i went for the manual, nice change on gbox. All in all very impressed, just the electronic letting the side down

You might well just find it goes away on its own. I've had a few drives where active cruise control has been unavailable, and yet a bit later in the day the message has cleared

As SJW said it can be just a random bit of dirt can sometimes throw the sensor, wipe the VW badge and away you go.

I was driving home one day not long after i bought my Clubsport when the dash lit up a car in red and an alarm sounded, just about frightened me to death as i had no idea what was happening.

Must've been a leaf or something got blown up onto the radar thing in the grille.

Slush, driven snow etc will block it too & make the systems unavailable....get it all the time in those conditions up here...& yes the element is heated, but it can only do so much...

Just an FYI, but a leaking thermostat / pump can also cause it to go unavailable.

Mine did it (mk7) due to the fact that it read there was an error on the coolant system so didn't tick the ECU's box that it could control the engine speed safely, so wouldn't allow the ACC to activate. Worth noting that no other warning was displayed, and my water pump housing did indeed have a pin hole leak in it after investigation.

Well i had a look and noticed the bottom of the grill was loose, ie not clipped into the bumper? Removed screws, removed and refitted it. Maybe the loose grill was causing problems, we shall see tomorrow out on the road?
