Is this MDI cable compatible with MK 7?

Only thing my new to me car didn't come with is the female usb lead I had on my mark 6 which enables you to plug a flash drive in.

I've found one on ebay for a fiver with the description - AUDI VW Music Interface MDI MMI AMI to USB Cable Data Sync Charging Adapter UK

If this is for a mk7 you don't use the old style cable like on the Mk6. Mk7 only has usb ports.

Where are the ports? The car came with two cables for connecting phones so I think a cable is needed. Will have another around the car now before I order. thanks.

My MK7 had a socket the cable linked to in the OP's post in the cubby in front of the gear stick. I think those with Nav Pro had USBs, mine didn't (standard nav).

I believe if you had a MIB1 generation unit then it uses the MDI cable interface. All sorts of different cables do different things depending on the colour of the collar.

MIB2 units come with a USB socket as standard in the chubby behind the gearstick and the MDI is done away with.

MIB1 = cars built before Week 22 2015

MIB2 = cars built week 22 2015 onwards.

yup, I got a cable identical to that for my 2015 so I could charge my phone. Though is you have the 'phone box' option there's a USB in the armrest.

Thanks all. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow about something else so I'll see if they have a spare lying around they can send me plus a fuse to fix the cigarette lighter.
