I’ll get some pics later today, on first impressions yours does look packed correctly, although the upper foam does look slightly distorted perhaps?! does the shape of the lower foam on yours match the contours of the boot floor? And is the jack fully wound in??

Yes maybe the top cover foam is out of shape and causing this?

The lower foam seems to match the boot floor contour and the jack is definitely fully wound in....

Thank you the replies so far :-)

I just had a look at the kit on my 8.5, I didn’t pull the whole thing out as the lower foam is clipped to the floor through the strap, it looks packed the same as yours, but I did find when I put the kit back together that the floor was sitting a bit high on that side, I pushed down on the floor and felt the foam push together, the floor was then as good as flush on both sides, but is SLIGHTLY fouling on the kit, I never have the floor in the lower position so don’t know if it was like it before I messed with it or not?! Barley noticeable though, and I would never have noticed anything had I not have been checking for it.

Thank you for the pics - really appreciated!

I found the stud in the floor pan, had to push it through the boot carpet to make it appear. I just need to get the plastic nut, which yours has, that screws onto the stud in the floor pan. This will make the base of the foam tighter to the boot floor on mine I would think and improve/solve the fouling issue. I've took some pics of the stud below.

I will let you know how I get on once I've sourced the nut!

Thanks again for your help :-)

Good work.the fact it was sat on top of that stud was probably 99% of the issue.

Afternoon all, a quick question. Looking at space saver wheel in the link on this thread for the new Gti clubby on order. Does it fit ok in the wheel well with the sub in there. If so is the sub easy enough to move to fit wheel?

Thanks for any advice.

I have a spare and HK. The sub comes out really easily to get the wheel out.

I’m unclear if you are referring to the eBay link on the previous page in this thread or not? If you are I’d be unsure as to whether the factory sub will fit correctly in that wheel!? Being an after market wheel and not OEM, it may be that the inner profile of the pressed steel may not allow the sub to fit snugly, I’ve no idea if there’d be a problem or not, but the shape does look a bit different to me.
