Today I took delivery of a space saver spare wheel bought on EBay to replace the tins of gunk my Clubsport came with. Over the years I’ve been fortunate with punctures. However I’ve had to deal with a couple of occasions when my wife had damaged a tyre and no amount of gunk injected into the tyre would have saved the day.

Good tip to look on Ebay. I think the OEM one is £300-£400 if ordered from VW (it is £300 if added as an option to a new 8.5 order). This one was £139 and comes with a decent scissor jack and telescopic wheel wrench (value about £35 combined), so the 18 inch steel wheel and brand new tyre cost just over £100. The tyre looks plenty good enough for the modest "get you home" job that it is required to do. I phoned to double check compatibility before ordering and the guy at The Wheel Shop in Manchester was very helpful. The 18 inch spare just (and I mean just!) fits into the boot floor recess of a standard 8.5 GTI. Gunk is no more.

Fitted the OEM MK8.5 Clubsport VW rear diffuser to my MK8 Clubsport.

Not a huge difference, but more aggressive and gloss black, which matches well with the spoiler.

Just realised I didn’t attach a picture of the new dashcam, it’s quite tiny!

Hi all, been lurking for quite a while, had a mk8 GTI for 2.5 years and now a mk8 GTI Clubsport since March last year.

I have just purchased and installed a spacesaver wheel and toolkit, all the right Golf mk8 part numbers but there is a slight issue.

With the boot floor panel in the lowest position, it doesn't sit down flush now the spare wheel and toolkit are fitted. It's due to the toolkit sitting slightly too high and fouling the boot floor panel preventing it sitting down fully flush. The last pic you can just about make out by the shadow at the edge of the floor panel.

Has anyone else noticed this with theirs?

Nice looking clubby you’ve got there! 👌,
I have the wheel and tool kit in my 8.5 and the floor sits flush as you’d expect it to, are the two halves of the black foam around the jack fitting together properly? And does it still sit high if the jack is not inside them? I’m wondering if the jack is fully wound shut, or if it’s in there back to front? As one end has the winding loop and that might foul the foam if around the wrong way, if you need some pics of the toolkit I have in order to compare, then let me know and I’ll get some posted.
