They've already said no Clubsport S. I posted the link to the article in the other thread but here it is again for ease

electric racing - mmmm…. not sure that's gonna catch on

Depends if there is an alternative really....

Also depends on whether people see electric as the regular method of transport too....

Motorsport overtook horse racing once combustion engines were a big thing.

Formula-E and MotoE are already a thing in case you hadn't noticed. Its just a bit quieter and the pitstops are 24hrs lol

I had noticed and I don't think it has really caught on, has it? The public want to hear some noise...… A few great minds in the F1 world are looking into alternative fuels rather than electric. Milk floats aren't the solution to everything. Or if they are in motor racing they might need to add some fake noise

Caught on.... well those are classes that race on the same weekends as F1 and MotoGP.... they have been trying.

Personally I'm a bit meh about it and I like watching racing.

Is anyone aware if VW is planning an Edition 45 or will just have the two levels of GTI models? Perhaps the ED40 will be the last anniversary model?

Nothing that I have seen puts it either way, other than with a 25th, 30th, 35th and 40th editions it seems highly likley that we will get a 45th and I bet they will be pushing to get a 50th edition in as well for 2026 (who knows what the motoring landscape will be by then

What they will do with 45th model is anyone's guess. There might be room between GTI (245ps) and Clubsport at (300ps) but the ED 40 was 265 (with overboost to 285ps, I think).  So to go over that it gets a bit close to Clubsport

So could they go higher and do 310ps or 320ps.  Well Civic Type R has 320ps so front wheels could take it.  I remember one quote from a VW Bigwig was along the lines that " the GTI trim could do more extreme things than say R "

So maybe 310ps or 320ps with all the bells and whistles and buckets seats etc

Alternatively, VW has forgotten the anniversary as they have been too busy with their ID range..... the Golf will be even more unhappy than it is at the moment, if that is the case

VW announced they were leaving combustion powered racing at the end of the 2019 season so no more TCR or WRC.

Would imagine there are more TCR's than ED40's overall given the ED40 was a limited production run.  3 door TCR's however I would guess are fewer than 3 door ED40's as the window in which to order the TCR was only around six weeks.

If anyone is in the market for a 3 door this is unusual in as much as it's been held back and registered on a 20 plate https://www.jct600.co.uk/nearly-new-cars.aspx?Stock_ID=1233583210&
VW actually still make rally polos but they are just for customer purchase only.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

Wow!  With VW confirming there will be no Clubsport S model those owners lucky enough to have one of the Mk7's can look forward to minimal depreciation from now on.  This Mk8 GTi Clubsport does look better than the standard Mk8 GTi but I'm afraid all these touch screens are a definite no for me.  I might keep my Mk7.5 for a very long time.  Currently on 7 years ownership with my 911 997 Gen 2 Carrera 4S and never changed for 2 reasons - 1) 991 model was too big for the garage, 2) Didn't have enough money
Daily: Mk7.5 GTi PP DSG, Weekend: 911 997 Gen 2 Carrera 4S
