I briefly had 8x19 ET44 BBS alloys on my GTI back in 2013/14.
See pic for how they sat in the arches.
I’ve run a few different offsets and sizes since.
If you’re going to lower it much then I’d stick with the safer 8” ET44 option personally.
The 8.5’s will be marginal on the front for road use at standard height but they sure will fill the arches!
Is there any way you can order two pairs if they’re the same design?
The more aggressive ones will fit the rear just fine and the 8” ET44 would have sufficient front clearance.
