Its a good job VW make a good car - I wouldn't wait 6 months for a mundane one. VW really need to start building cars as quickly as BMW do.

a work colleague ordered a BMW 320 and it was built and delivered in 7 weeks. It takes VW 7 weeks to give you an order number 😂😂

7 to 8 weeks is the norm for a BMW unless it's a proper M (M3, M4, M5 etc.). The 135 isn't seen as an M so if they're currently on a 6 month wait, that's unusual. My cousin got a factry fresh order on a 235 done in 8 weeks a year ago.

I think its the covid backlog / restrictions.
I dread to think what effect it will have on VW if BMW were generally 8 weeks.

It's not just VW, there are people on the BMW forum having long waits for 3 Series. Some from Nov and others who ordered in Jan scheduled for August/Sept. And these are 330i and 330e models.

Car was ordered on 4th January so 6 months but to be fair the coronavirus played a big part in the delays.

I ordered 19th December last year, so its been about 7 months now. Its free to be picked up this week but the PPF guy at the detailer's is on his holidays so its staying at the dealership for a week longer.

I was told that the reason so many cars were waiting in European ports was because all the ships due to deliver right after lockdown were held in the UK for a while before being prevented from offloading. Then ordered to return to the European mainland with the vehicles still onboard.
