It’ll be fun fumbling for the touchpad for the lights in the new Cupra / new Leon - same touchpad as the mk8 Golf, but in a much more difficult to use position than in the Golf;

- mk8 Golf; above the outer air vent, next to the instrument binnacle
- new Leon; quite low down for a touch pad - below the outer air vent, out of the driver’s line of sight.

You can see it at 56sec - 1.00min in the YouTube video posted by @Mutley75 in the first post in this discussion thread.
2020 Polo GTI Plus; Pure White, DSG (because they all are)
Gone but not forgotten;
2016 Polo GTI; Blue Silk
2011 mk6 Golf GTD; Carbon Grey
2007 mk5 Golf GT (2.0 170bhp TDI version); Deep Black Pearl
2002  mk4 Golf GTI (the 150 bhp diesel version); Deep Black Pearl

Is it 4wd?

Well it looks like its an SUV...

I'd doubt its 4wd because the ~300bhp SEAT's have always been FWD - they didn't make an R equivalent in the past.

That looks seriously good and basically a Golf MK8 from a design and tech perspective but with a bit style.

Autogefühl's Instagram of the new Cupra Leon shows it as an e-hydrid which is interesting as VW ditched proper hybrid for the new GTI.

If you read this: https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-news/first-official-pictures/cupra/leon/

The 4WD 306bhp variant is only as an estate.

There is a 296bhp FWD hatch.

The plug in Hybrid is a different engine - a 1.4TSI - like the Golf GTE.

What we all really wanted was a 4WD 306bhp hatch that then gets some electrical goodies thrown in on top.

And that config, if it existed, would be a 65 grand car which nobody would buy because its a SEAT.

So I guess SEAT have done their maths right.

That's interesting to read.

Whatever it got, it looks a damn sight better than any Mk8 Golf I've seen so far. More of an evolution of the old Leon as opposed to the Golf which.. well, I just don't know how to describe the outside  :undecided:

I still say that most will be more happy when they see a final full reveal of the GTI... the test drives with fake parts glued on and the partial teaser shots I think will be forgotten...

I don't think it will stop people actually buying it.

Look back at the Mk7 GTI spy shots from 2012 if you want to see what I mean.... they look really different to what we got...

Yes, I do agree with that.

Just saying that I think the Leon does look really good. The bumpers and wheels on the Performance version of the Golf are going to have to pretty good though! The GTE looks very average.

Let's hope they do the driving mode buttons on the wheel as well  :smiley:

they made a Cupra R hatchback and the Cupra R ST is 4wd that you can currently buy. The hatchback was only limited numbers though.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

It's a no from me, can't say there is anything I like about it at all.
