Mention black wheels and the standard response is “Halfords” harping back to the plague of Corsa boys ten or twenty years ago. Same with black roofs.
Everyone thought they were passing fads and yet the look has endured.
Certain colours of car look really good with black wheels and others less so.
White or red cars definitely make the colour contrast work.
I’ve always thought your car looks superb Raj, the Akrapovic bits coupled with the bonnet vents give a subdued but aggressive look and compliment the other mods well.
The OZ’s add to that mean and moody look and go with the car’s character.
I’ve long since been a fan of SR’s and had planned to fit them to my GTI back in 2013 but ended up trying something else in the end.
When going from looking at the car with the OZ’s straight to looking at the SR’s the former give a motorsport look and the latter look classier and neither is better or worse!
If push comes to shove I’d definitely pick the OZ’s because they compliment the other visual mods the best.
As an aside, I saw a black GTI pulling into Exeter motorway services about six weeks ago that had the same Akra exhaust and diffuser set-up which immediately brought your donor car to mind! I meant to mention it at the time but didn’t get round to it, too many other things going on!
A rare thing to see.
