Cheers rajb

You're not wrong on the Dashcam set up, I think I will grab some pics of the hardwiring connections just in case I need them later anyway & as you say can always disconnect it to test out its still the same without it installed etc.

Yes please let me know how yours works later if you can mate.

Cheers for now

It's the same. Switches off and asked my local dealer and they said the same as my thought process it's basically covering themselves/'safety' because if there is poor visibility they don't want reliance on the camera which means you hit something and you blame them. Where there's blame there's a claim lol

rajb. Cheers for that mate appreciate you trying that & letting me know.
Interesting hearing that from the dealer though,  kind of makes sense I guess the main thing is it's becoming apparent that it's a normal action rather than a fault.
Thanks again mate.

No worries at all. Does make sense though as generally if there's bad enough fog to warrant the lights then most likely the camera would be pretty useless anyway as the glare from the lights would reflect off the fog and so would make it more difficult for the camera. I know when there's been bad fog and the headlights do the same in essence and it does make it more difficult personally.

rajb. Yes I'm starting to be convinced. Lol. My dealer has passed it on the VW Technical Team so it will be interesting to see what they come back with. I'll post it up when I hear.
Thanks again mate.

Don't think they fit highline cameras from the factory on 7s or 7.5s.
Mine has

Do the lines bend when you turn the wheel to show where your doing to end up
Highline cameras are fitted to Golfs with Park Assist ticked as an option. If no PA then Lowline cameras are fitted.

Maybe it's to remind the driver that the rear fog light is on unnecessarily? In thick fog when no one is following you, yes, all other times, no.

I so agree - I wish they'd never invented rear foglights - they are needed about once every ten years when driving at 10mph trying to see the curb in thick fog. The rest of the time they just dazzle.  I can't believe how stupid and unthinking some drivers are, leaving them on, especially in queues or streams of traffic.

There's no suggestion the OP is like this, it's just my pet hate.

martin998877 - I hear what you're saying mate, I agree with you on people who drive around with fogs on all the time not necessary at all.
It's unfortunate that I'm one of those anal folk that if something is fitted on the car then I want it to work properly even if I only use the thing once a year! Crazy I know. 🤪😂
