The 7 is prettier but the 7.5 is worth waiting for.
The 245bhp GTI Performance is the sweet spot in the “Performance Golf” range.
The PP is well worth having. Ignore the extra 10 or 15 bhp, it’s meaningless, but the bigger brakes are very good in general use and the diff adds a whole different dimension to the handling.
Heated screens are fairly rare options but easy to spot as the windscreen has a yellowish tint.
I had a pair of mk6 GTI’s, there are a few steps down in certain areas when it comes to the mk7, the panels are thinner and the steering wheel not as nice. Performance possibly slightly better with the 7 but driving dynamics are improved quite a bit with the PP added.
Oh, and the interior ambient lights are a welcome surprise when moving from a Mk5 or mk6.
The interior embellishments of the 7.5 are even better (and I was previously the biggest sceptic of this) and my advice is to buy as recent a model as you possibly can as the late model cars are loaded with kit
