I had three failed attempts last week trying to use the Discover Care programme - certainly not the best tool in the world to use!

Resorted to doing it manually. Worked first time, and it was far quicker!
If you click on the VW link below, choose your car, choose the type of infotainment unit you have, and then scroll all the way down to the 'Support' section, there is a 'Download Manual (PDF)' link.
It is in German, however I found it translated pretty well using Google translate, and just followed it step by step.

Hope that helps!

If anybody is prepared to do this, and send out an SD card with the updates on that could just be slotted into the appropriate hole, I'd be interested as well

I'm giving it a go soon. If I get it working, I can probably get some cards sent out. My initial estimate is that £10 would be fair, but I'd have to look at it.

I spend all day everyday on a computer, with a lot of working with removable disks - I'm an electronic engineer. I don't wish to sound big headed, but if I can't get this working, then I think VW need to rethink their update process!
that sounds fair enough to me, put me down for 1 when you get it all together.

£10!! If people cover the postage I'll do them for nothing! In fact why don't people just donate a few quid to the forum charity. Sorry SJW but I hate forum members being fleeced for something that's so simple to do. I've never had any issues what so ever updating any VW sat nav.

Well, I'm not going to be buying everyone SD cards. You have to cover the cost of the SD card, and postage, and my time.... you need at least a 16GB sd card, so thats 6-8 quid right there.... hardly a fleecing. A fleecing would be what VW charge. Look, if you're not happy and can upgrade yours, then great, but use your brain pal

The nav data has to be on an oem supplied nav card to work in the system. Copying and then formatting the original card is a good part of the process and a leap of faith for a lot of people. Are you familiar with the process?

It’s really not that hard and a good number of people have been coached through it on here. 😊

If you need the original card, then it hardly seems worth me doing. Like you say, it's not difficult. I appreciate that not everyone is super comfortable with computers, but with simple step-by-steps people should be able to follow along.

Look, I'm not trying to make any money out of this, and I didn't expect people to actually want me to do it. It's no skin off my nose if people want to do it, want me to do it, or don't want to bother updating.

Not sure you can clone the cards so would have to send the original, update and return.

If it's not a nav pro then you need to update the original VW supplied sd card. Nav pro can use any card but it needs to be at least 32gb and preferably a high speed one. Apologies to sjw as I agree if supplying an SD card then a tenner would be a bargain.

Not a problem. Likewise, apologies for being so snappy. I just offered to do what I felt was a good deed for a reasonable price, and felt offended that I was being branded as a rip-off.

However, I kind of brought it on myself as I didn't realise (read: hadn't read) that you needed an original SD card. Didn't know SD cards had any kind of identifying information on them.
