The £12k was actually £12.2k plus the cost of a day's labour to assemble them. They have to order about 100 parts a seat and then build them from scratch. They quoted me on a time and materials basis as they didn't know how long it would take them as they'd never done it before. The £12.2k is for materials only. Ballpark for labour was 1-2 days. Parts manager had to assemble the quote by itemising every single part - he said compiling an accurate quote from EKTA was enough of a ball ache and he expected the job to be the same.
Only reason I know this is that I read a forum post elsewhere about someone having his seats stolen and I couldn't believe that they were that expensive. To put it into perspective, to buy carbon fibre bucket seats from Porsche (the seats that are in the 918) are just under £7,500. So I phoned my local dealer.
Always a plan to get things in writing but I only flagged this because very few people know that the seats are so obscenely expensive and I think discretionary goodwill may evaporate when the prices surface.
Let us know how you get on.

the latest now from vw is they need the car in for a day to investigate further and take photos to send to head office, they asked if i could bring it in for a day this week, but when i asked if a courtesy car was available they told me not for that day, so going to arrange another day in week or so.
not impressed!
