Mk7 passenger mirror query
« on: 19 August 2019, 14:35 »
Hi all,

so recently purchased a 2014 GTI PP. Literally over the weekend the passenger mirror drop down for when in reverse seems to have started to play up. It moves when selecting reverse but only ever so slightly wheras before it went down considerable to show the curb side.

Any ideas why it would suddenly do this?

Thanks,

Raj

Sometimes, they can play up. Simply reset it

1. Put the car in reverse
2. Set the mirror where you'd like it to be
3. When selecting Drive, the mirror should return to it's original position

Have you changed which key you're using? This might be the reason it's changed - the other key is on a different setting.

Same key so will try the reset mentioned above.

Think that is only for cars with electric memory seats?

Mine does it different amounts on different keys and I've not got electric seats. I'd guess that the memory they refer to is for the actual mirror positions, not the position of the reverse dip function.

I would say that you have accidentally adjusted it whilst the car was in reverse.

As others have said, stick the car into reverse gear, set the passenger mirror to where you want it for when you are reversing. When you then pull away in first, after about 5 or 10 seconds, the mirror will move back up the position you had set it for normal driving.

Mine aren't electric but still do this drop on the passenger mirror.
